Project Officer
Islamabad
Functional Setting: 

The Project Officer is expected to work under a project that deals with sustainable reintegration of returnees and improved migration management in Pakistan. The specific  project objectives are: to promote inclusive economic development in Pakistan, focusing on improving livelihoods, skills development, and sustainable reintegration of returnees, aligning with the Government of Pakistan's development priorities; to enhance the EU's role in the migration sector, support the development of a National Reintegration Policy, and build capacity for reintegration processes, with a special focus on vulnerable groups; to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 8, SDG 10, and Goal 16, by addressing economic growth, reducing inequality, and promoting peaceful and inclusive societies; and to implement activities for the sustainable, inclusive, and gender-responsive reintegration of returnees, supporting policy development, capacity building, and policy dialogue between the EU and Pakistan, with an emphasis on gender equality.  The project targets areas of return in Pakistan, notably Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh.

In particular, the Project Officer will support activities that deal with reintegration of returnees, community education and awareness raising, migration management, working with government/ relevant counterparts and working closely with the Migrant Resource Centre teams based in Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar. S/he will work under the supervision of the Project Manager based in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The Project Officer will be based in Islamabad, Pakistan. 

Position Specific Expertise: 

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the migration situation in the country.
  • Experience in project implementation, capacity building, information campaign and awareness raising.

Position- Specific Qulaification and Language Skills:

  • Master degree in migration related fields, social or political sciences, law, international relations, and other related areas is a requirement.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of the migration situation in the country.
  • Experience in project management, capacity building, information campaign and awareness raising.
  • In addition to the languages listed in the job profile (i.e. fluent English), proficiency in Urdu language is a requirement. Proficiency in Pashto and Punjabi language is an asset. ​
