Project Overview
ICMPD is inviting all interested candidates to apply for a Researcher position for projects on Awareness raising and information campaigns on the risks of irregular migration in Pakistan and in Iraq.
Focusing on information dissemination and awareness raising among potential migrants and returned migrants, the projects will conduct a series of campaigns communicating balanced information about the dangers and consequences of irregular migration, options for legal pathways, and the legal, social and economic realities of life in Europe. Embedding a behavioural approach, the campaigns will employ different channels and trusted, credible messengers to target both prospective migrants and their key influencers. The projects aims at empowering people to take an informed decision on their migration trajectory.
Understanding that effective information and awareness campaigns are built on strong background research, the Research Unit conducts empirical studies for this project. Dedicated qualitative research will cover the migration dynamics of irregular and regular migration channels from Pakistan and Iraq, including potential (irregular) migrants’ information needs and gaps, their migration intentions, motivations and decision-making processes, their key influencers and channels likely to reach them. In additional to background research and review of lessons learned, the research also entails qualitative empirical research on the experiences of stakeholders and returnees, as well as quantitative surveys among potential migrants.
Please note that this position is subject to approval and availability of project funds.
