Project Officer
Functional Setting:
The overall objective of the MMD project is to enhance action that supports increased
orderly, safe, regular and responsible migration and mobility of people within Africa
and between Africa and Europe. MMD thus helps minimise migration-related risks
to individuals, while maximising its development potential for both Africa and
Europe. The Rabat Process was launched at the Euro-African Conference on
Migration and Development in July 2006 with the aim of being a platform for
constructive dialogue and cooperation on migration issues between countries
concerned by the West African migration routes. It brings together 57 partner
countries from North, West, Central Africa and Europe, as well as the European
Commission (EC) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) with
a view to tackling questions arising from migration and provides a framework
for consultation and coordination, contributes to meeting challenges posed by
migration, and encourages opportunities for exchange and development.
Position-Specific Expertise:
- Strong knowledge and understanding of minimum of 3 years' experience in implementation of projects in the field of migration with focus on North, West or Central Africa, Substantive knowledge of migration issues.
- Experience in planning and implementation of project communication activities, implementation of project budgets and monitoring of expenditures.
Position-Specific Qualifications and Language Skills:
- Master degree related to the area of work is a requirement.
- In addition to the languages listed in the job profile (i.e. fluent English), proficiency in verbal/written French is a requirement.
