Project Manager
The Project Manager works within the Regional Office Silk Routes, based in Vienna, Austria. He/she is responsible for management and implementation of initiatives in Iraq, in coordination and cooperation with other Project Managers in the ICMPD Silk Routes Regional Office. The current ICMPD portfolio in Iraq focuses on awareness raising on safe migration options, as well as prevention of irregular migration, counselling, and referral of returnees to Iraq, supporting national systems and capacities for reintegration of returnees, integrated border management (various aspects, such as capacity development on multiple topics, contingency planning, right-based border management, risk analysis, etc.). The Project Manager establishes and maintains working relations with project's national and international stakeholders, beneficiaries, and donors. He/she monitors project expenditures, directly supervises the project implementation team, identifies and recruits external experts in the required domains and conceptualises project activities. He/she is responsible for project reporting and is actively involved in project development and resource mobilisation.
The incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Regional Portfolio Manager, and in close coordination with other Project Managers, particularly those engaged in Iraq implementation, as well as with the Iraq Head of Office. He/she consults regularly with the Regional Resources Manager Officer on budget execution and monitoring.
Position-Specific Expertise
- Strong knowledge and understanding of project cycle management and migration governance (including return and reintegration, border management, diaspora engagement, awareness raising, prevention of irregular migration, trafficking in human beings, smuggling of migrants);
- Experience in working in international environment, national and/or international institutions/organisations, project management, managing project teams and external consultants, monitoring and evaluation.
- Master degree in migration related fields, social or political sciences, law, international relations, and other related areas is a requirement;
- In addition to the languages listed in the job profile (i.e. fluent English), Arabic, Sorani, Urdu, Bangla are an asset.
