Communication Officer

Functional Setting:

Situated under the Border Management Portfolio at ICMPD Western Balkans and Türkiye Office, the role of Communication Officer entails implementing and regularly monitoring the Communication and Visibility Plan, strategy and actions of the projects under Border Management Portfolio.

The Project for “Supporting Türkiye's Efforts to Strengthen Border Management at the Eastern and South Eastern Land Borders" aims to enhance Türkiye's capability to address irregular migration by advancing the technological and institutional capacity and operational expertise concerning the surveillance of Türkiye's eastern and south-eastern land borders, while supporting the project beneficiaries' adherence to international human rights standards.

The Communication Officer will be located in Ankara and will be expected to work with a Project Team consisting of one Project Manager, Project Officers, Junior Project Officers and Project Assistants in Istanbul and Ankara, under the direct supervision of the Border Management Portfolio Manager and with substantive guidance of the Head of Region. 

 

Position-Specific Expertise:

- Experience in communication activities in coordination with national and international competent authorities.

- Capability to manage the website and digital platforms.

- Capability to maintain the social media presence and the measurement and reporting on the performance of all digital marketing campaigns.

- Ability to identify content opportunities and produce the relevant materials and disseminate via the most appropriate digital channels.

- Identification of digital trends and evaluate emerging technologies to disseminate information on EU4IBMTR's core activities

- Capability to successfully build strategic networks and partnerships.

- Analytical thinking and ability to integrate new approaches and innovations to ensure the effective implementation of communication strategies.​


Position-Specific Qualifications and Language Skills: 

- Minimum of 5 years of position relevant work experience in communications or public relation, in an international context.

- Master's Degree related to the area of work is preferable.

- Solid drafting, communication and presentation skills are desirable.

- Proficiency in the use of standard IT tools is required.

- Excellent advocacy skills.

- Experience in use of digital platform tools.

- Experience in handling and answering media requests.

- Strong and resilient network with media organizations in Türkiye.

- Experience with graphic design programmes (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and In Design).

- Experience in planning, initiating and implementing processes for production of content (visual, digital, written).

- Experience in developing, formulating and drafting inputs to new communications concepts, proposals, and work plans.

- Excellent communication and presentation skills.

- Proficiency in (verbal/written) English and Turkish.

- Experience in the field of migration and border management is an asset.
