Functional setting

The EMPATHY project (Enforcement of Migration Governance and Partnership through a Holistic Methodology) is prepared to address irregular migration in line with EU priorities by strengthening the effectiveness of Türkiye's migration management procedures on the voluntary, dignified, and sustainable return and reintegration of irregular migrants. The project offers consolidated intervention on one side to strengthen the national return system, but on the other side supports overall migration management of countries of origin to enable the application of sustainable reintegration programmes. The project consists of trainings, procurements, outreach activities to migrant diaspora groups and NGOs.

The position is based in Ankara and will require domestic travelling especially for training activities organized for stakeholders. The reintegration components may also require travelling abroad to assist the delegations in logistical arrangements and the smooth organization of planned events.  Working with a level of relative independence, the Project Management Assistant is responsible for providing a wide range of experienced administrative/logistical/technical support to project teams throughout the planning and implementation of project(s) activities. S/he supports reporting and the development of innovative workflows in support of project(s) activities. S/he provides operation procedural training to project support staff in line with the standard administrative practices and operating procedures of ICMPD.​

Position-Specific Expertise

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of migration management and preferably of return and reintegration.
  • Experience in  supporting procurement processes will be an asset.
  • Experience in supporting budget management will be an asset.​

Position-Specific Qualifications and Language Skills

  • Bachelor's or equivalent in a relevant field in addition to completed Secondary Education.
  • Relevant working experience is considered commensurate in lieu of degree or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience in an international context.
  • Experience in status reporting activities.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in use of standard IT tools - knowledge of SAP and Excell is an asset.
  • Proficiency in (verbal/written) English, proficiency in Turkish is an asset.
