Team Assistant

Functional setting:

ICMPD's roots in Libya stretch back as far as 2002, by means of Libya's participation in ICMPD's Mediterranean Transit Migration Dialogue (MTM), and on 20 November 2019, a Cooperation Agreement was signed with the State of Libya to provide the general framework of cooperation in the country. In January 2023, ICMPD launched two new projects: the EU-funded “EU Training Support to Libya's Border Security and Management Institutions (EU-BMT-LY)" and the Czech-funded “Advancing Libya's Border Security and Management (ALBSaM)" implemented in collaboration with the relevant Libyan institutions.  Under the supervision of the Head of Office and in close cooperation with the project team, the Team Assistant based in the Tripoli Office provides support to the implementation of the project and office activities. The Team Assistant organises project events and meetings being responsible for the support to logistical and administrative arrangements. 

 Position-Specific Expertise:

  • Ability to independently plan and organise their own work in support of achieving project(s) teams' priorities.
  • Capability to establish effective relationships within teams to understand and meet their needs.
  • Analytical thinking to gather, analyse, and compile information, identifying critical relationships and patterns among data and proposing workable solutions.
  • Ability to take initiative in defining realistic outputs and clarifying roles, responsibilities and expected results in the context of the project(s) scope.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues from different cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Attention to detail, discretion and ability to work under pressure and within tight timelines.

Position-Specific Qualifications and Language Skills:

  • Bachelor's or equivalent in a relevant field in addition to completed Secondary Education.
  • Relevant working experience is considered commensurate in lieu of degree or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience in an international context.
  • Experience in the organisation of events and meetings.
  • Knowledge and use of standard IT systems – knowledge of SAP is an asset.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Experience in managing conflict priorities and working with tight deadlines.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in (verbal/written) English, proficiency in (verbal/written) Arabic.
