Project Officer

Functional Setting:

Based in ICMPD WB and Türkiye Regional Office in Istanbul, Interdisciplinary Portfolio works with several stakeholders such as policy makers, law enforcement agencies, local authorities, civil society, academia and the private sector; and deals with promoting multilateral collaboration and facilitating dialogue through regional cooperation to help development of a comprehensive response to the challenges faced in migration management; migration policy making and data analysis to support the evidence-based policy framework and ensure proactive response to the new developments in the region; focusing on the migration and security nexus to strengthen the technical capacity in migration management together with the fight against transnational crimes; explore innovative ways to implement initiatives that promote the added value of migration and implement other cross-cutting initiatives that complement the projects implemented by other portfolios.
The Project Officer will work under the supervision of the Project manager and is responsible for the implementation and coordination of project activities under RECONNECT II and ENACT projects, project focuses on enhancing capacity on the return counselling and the latter on alternatives to immigration detention. S/he supports planning of project activities and coordinates implementation in collaboration with project stakeholders, beneficiaries, experts and partners.​

Position-Specific Expertise:
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of migration issues in general and solid knowledge on irregular migration, return, pre-return procedures (such as detention, alternatives to detention, return counselling etc) is highly desirable;
  • Experience in capacity building projects with public institutions and other relevant stakeholders.

Position-Specific Qualifications and Language Skills:
  • Master's Degree related to the area of work.
  •  Proficiency in (verbal/written) English and Turkish.​
