Junior Project Officer
Functional Setting:
The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) is an international organisation with 20 Member States and over 60 projects active throughout Europe, Africa, Asia, the Mediterranean and the Silk Routes Region that promotes innovative, comprehensive, and sustainable migration policies.
As part of its Silk Routes Region portfolio, ICMPD is currently supporting authorities in migration management, including through the management of Migrant Resource Centres (MRCs) to provide outgoing, intending, potential and returning migrants with information on a broad range of migration-related challenges and opportunities. ICMPD is also implementing a portfolio of projects to help the authorities establish sustainable reintegration pathways for returnees.
Under the supervision of the Project Manager – Team Leader, and in coordination with the project team at the headquarter and in Iraq, the Junior Project Manager will support the smooth implementation of activities carried out as part of a portfolio of return and reintegration projects in Iraq. This includes support for the management and operation of migrant resource centres, support for the development of public-private partnerships in the field of reintegration, and project reporting in line with donor requirements. The position is based in Vienna and requires frequent travel to Iraq.
Position-Specific Expertise:
- Demonstrated ability to independently implement project activities, showing initiative and self-reliance in achieving objectives within established guidelines.
- Proven track record in delivering high-quality reporting for EU funded and/or other donors funded projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to diverse stakeholders involved in border management efforts.
- A collaborative team player, capable of fostering a supportive and inclusive working environment conducive to achieving project goals.
- Strong organizational skills, enabling effective management of tasks, resources, and timelines to ensure the smooth operation and success of projects.
Position-Specific Qualifications and Language Skills:
- Masters degree in an related area of work is a requirement.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in project cycle implementation in the field of Migration, particularly in Return and Reintegration, or International Development. Experience at the international level is an asset.
- Excellent command of (verbal/written) English. Proficiency in Arabic is an asset.
- Excellent Drafting skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel to Iraq on a regular basis.
