Functional Setting:
Situated under the Border Management Portfolio at ICMPD Representation in Türkiye, the role of Project Manager entails overseeing and leading projects within this specific portfolio.
The Project for “Supporting Türkiye's Efforts to Strengthen Border Management at the Eastern and South Eastern Land Borders" aims to enhance Türkiye's capability to address irregular migration by advancing the technological and institutional capacity and operational expertise concerning the surveillance of Türkiye's eastern and south-eastern land borders, while supporting the project beneficiaries' adherence to international human rights standards.
The final determination of the duty station for the Project Manager position, either Ankara or Istanbul, will be made at a later stage based on the availability of the selected candidate. The Project Manager will be expected to work with a team of Project Officers, Junior Project Officers and Project Assistants in Istanbul and Ankara, under the direct supervision of the Border Management Portfolio Manager and with substantive guidance of the Head of Region.
Position-Specific Expertise:
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the border and migration context in Türkiye and the region.
- Having technological awareness on border surveillance systems.
- Knowledge in post procurement contract management and implementation of large-scale systems is an asset.
- Experience in working in international environment, national and/or international institutions/organisations, project management, managing project teams and external consultants, monitoring and evaluation.
- Experience in reporting, budgeting, donor relations and programme coordination.
- Experience in cooperation and affectively working with different stakeholders, national and international experts and liaising with the Donor.
Position-Specific Qualifications and Language Skills:
- Master's Degree related to the area of work.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the development and management of projects and project teams in the field of migration or a relevant related field, at the international level.
- Solid drafting, communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in (verbal/written) English, proficiency in the language of the duty station is a requirement.
