Functional Setting

The Border Management Portfolio aims to promote comprehensive migration governance and enhance border management capacities in Türkiye. It focuses on addressing the multifaceted challenges and opportunities associated with border management, covering a wide range of areas essential for ensuring effective border control, security, surveillance, risk analysis, capacity building, customs, and trade facilitation. Through strategic partnerships with national authorities, international organizations, and relevant stakeholders, the Portfolio endeavours to develop and implement tailored solutions aimed at enhancing Türkiye's border management system. This includes the promotion of safe and secure borders, the facilitation of lawful migration, and the utmost attention to the protection of human rights.

Under the Enhancing the Border Management Capacity of the Presidency of Migration Management (ENGAGE) Project, two team assistants will be hired to support project implementation. Each position will be offered as a secondment at the Directorate General of Border Management of Presidency of Migration Management for a fixed term of 17 months, with no possibility of extension. The secondee will be employed and remunerated by ICMPD during his/her secondment.

The Team Assistant will be based in Ankara Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and with guidance of the respective managers at PMM, the Team Assistant will contribute to the implementation of project activities throughout the project duration by seeking full alignment with the ICMPD's and donor's regulatory framework, standard administrative practices and operating procedures and will support communication and coordination between ICMPD and the Beneficiary. ​

  • Skilled in serving as a focal point in between multiple teams, ensuring effective communication, collaboration and alignment of project goals and deliverables. 
  • Effective administrative support to assigned project activities.
  • Capability to establish effective relationships within teams and address their needs.
  • Strong analytical skills to gather and analyse information, identify critical relationships and patterns among data and propose viable solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
    Attention to detail, discretion and ability to work efficiently under pressure and within tight deadlines.

 

Position-Specific Qualifications and Language Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in related area of work or equivalent. A minimum of two years of relevant working experience in an international context, particularly in border management context, is desirable.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and experience in the organisation of events and meetings.
  • Knowledge and use of standard IT systems
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in (verbal/written) English and Turkish is a required.
