Project Officer
The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) has been working in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the Special Branch of Police, Immigration Police, and the School of Intelligence to strengthen the human and institutional capacities of law enforcement agencies, particularly Immigration Police officers, at air and land border crossing points across the country.
Since the beginning of 2023, ICMPD has implemented a series of capacity-building initiatives focused on various aspects of border management. These include the implementation of a Training of Trainers programme on document security control, support for the establishment of a second line of control at Terminal 3 of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA), and the procurement of small-scale forensic equipment for frontline officers at Chittagong, Sylhet, and HSIA in Dhaka. Additionally, these efforts have encompassed the development of a tailor-made document security training manual and the provision of refresher courses for trainers at the School of Intelligence.
In 2025 and 2026, ICMPD plans to implement another round of capacity-building programmes for the Immigration Police of Bangladesh and the School of Intelligence. The aim of this initiative is to further enhance and improve border management at international land and air border control points.
The expected outcome of the proposed programme is to enable the Immigration Police of Bangladesh at the international airports and land border crossing points across the country to identify document forgeries, impostors, identity fraud and other case irregularities which will contribute to the tackling of irregular migration and cross border crime in Bangladesh.
It is mandatory that the candidate can communicate professionally, both in writing and verbally, in English and Bengali.
The Project Officer will report directly to their designated Project Manager.
